Kelly & Nathan

How does a 3 minute elopement in Sydney followed by an adventure session in Sydney then party on a boat in Sydney harbour sound? Pretty cool right?

Kelly & Nathan decided to elope in the way they wanted, that goes against the norms of traditions, but is meaningful for them. Opting for the vertical reels over a traditional creative highlight film, I was super excited to get a little creative with the films Kelly & Nathan received! A little different to your normal but absolutely epic and I love it!

Let’s hear from Kelly & Nathan how they planned such an epic elopement!

How did you find the wedding planning process?

We had originally planned a larger wedding with all of our family and friends down the coast, we had mostly everything picked out when we started to ask ourselves if what we were planning was really for us or if we were just doing what we thought everyone else would enjoy. I found wedding planning to be very overwhelming and stressful, there are so many vendors to chose from and things you never think about planning for until the time comes. So we decided after a number of factors that we were going to elope. It was just going to be us and our closest 7 friends, in the gardens of a historic home and then off onto a boat to party the night away. I can’t say we would have done anything different!

What were some of your favourite wedding details and why you chose them?

Our florals by Heidi at The buds and the bees. She perfected exactly what we were looking for using the most incredible florals. The venue, Lindsay House in Darling Point was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and portraits, I had visited the venue earlier in the year and instantly fell in love, the gardens are immaculate and look right over the harbour, the building was classic and timeless and gave a lot of character to the day.

What's some of the key stand out moments you will cherish forever?

We both had our best friends stay with us the night before the wedding and this to us was something really special, we got to reminisce on old memories and talk about how we saw our future, practice our vows and just appreciate the other person with our best friends before the chaos. We decided to share our vows in private allowing us to share our hearts with no care in the world as to what they meant to other people, it was just us in that moment making a forever promise. Lastly the time we had on the boat, looking over our friends having fun and dancing and realising that we had the perfect day and our wedding day was something we both wanted and will cherish forever, it was like the final we made it moment

What were your thoughts when you watched your wedding film for the first time?

We got the reels package so we went through them about a hundred times just laughing and crying, reminiscing on the moments captured.

Let’s chat about your vendors, how did they all do?

Our vendors were fantastic given we only had 5, the communication from all of them was on point especially, florals, photography and videography. Everything flowed with our personalities and nothing felt forced.

What would you say to couples who are on the fence about booking a videographer for their wedding?

Do it. 1000 times over. Al thought you may not think you need them, you are so in the moment that you miss so much and it really does go by so fast. Having the videographer there to capture everything meant we got to go back and remember moments we might have missed or forgotten about.

Words of wisdom for future couples looking to create an epic wedding/elopement experience?

Just do you! Don’t worry about what other people are going to think of your day. It is your day and it’s a day you can only do once!
