BEST TIME TO GET MARRIED

Choosing An Ideal Season For Your Wedding

When it comes to planning your wedding, one of the most important decisions is choosing when to have it. Picking the right time of year can make a major difference in both your budget and overall experience. Every season has its own unique advantages, so it’s important to consider all factors before making a final decision.

First of all, consider your non-negotiables. Is getting married at a particular time important for you both or are you open for discussion?

Some couples prefer the warmth and beauty of a summer wedding, others opt for winter weddings when the weather is cooler but no less amazing. Sure, okay Tim; so tell me, which season is best? There’s no clear cut answer as everyone is different with different priorities and different opinions - BUT by ensuring you understand the benefits and potentially the disadvantages of each season, you can make an informed decision that’ll shape your unique day.

As the weather changes throughout the year, it can be difficult to know how to handle the various seasons. From spring to winter, each season brings its own set of positives and negatives, challenges and benefits. That is why I have decided to write this guide - to help answer your questions so that you are best prepared for any season.

Are you ready for this one!? This blog might be longer than what you're used to, but trust me when I say it will be worth your time. To find out when is the best season to get married in Greater Sydney!

SUMMER

Summer is a season that brings joy to many people. The warm weather, long days, and endless sunshine create the perfect atmosphere for outdoor activities and relaxation. For couples who love the heat, summer is an ideal time for romance and fun-filled adventures. With temperatures often reaching 30 degrees or more during the day, there are plenty of opportunities to soak up some sun while enjoying each other's company.

Summer evenings are also something special. The balmy air creates a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to unwind after a busy day. As the sun slowly sets in the late evening hours, couples can take their time exploring new places or simply spending quality time together outside under starry skies. Whether it's strolling on sandy beaches, rolling hills, or sipping cocktails at rooftop bars, summer nights offer endless possibilities for creating memorable experiences.

AUTUMN

Autumn is often considered the most beautiful and romantic season of the year for weddings. This season offers mild weather with plenty of sunshine, making it perfect for outdoor ceremonies and receptions. As the leaves begin to change and the air becomes crisp, autumn is a season of transition. One of my favourites to shoot in!

Just like spring, autumn is a time when temperatures are usually mild and in that lovely in-between of not too hot and not too cold. The days may be shorter, but they're just as beautiful. During this season, you can expect to see plenty of warm colours. From oranges and yellows to deep reds and browns, the changing foliage creates a breath-taking backdrop for outdoor celebrations.

While some may mourn the end of summer, others look forward to all that Autumn has to offer.

winter

Winter weddings in Greater Sydney are becoming increasingly popular and for a good reason. The cooler weather provides a welcome break from the heat of summer and it tends to save you a few pennies as well!

One of the biggest advantages of having a winter wedding in Greater Sydney is that you can take advantage of some amazing deals on venue costs. Many venues offer discounted rates during the off-season months of June to August, which means you can save some dosh without compromising on quality. Plus, with fewer weddings taking place during this time of year, you'll have greater flexibility when it comes to choosing dates and times that work best for you.

I’m a big fan of getting the old kathmandu puffer jacket out, so in that case I’ll take winter weddings forever!

WHAT IS THE BEST SEASON & month TO GET MARRIED IN SYDNEY?

According to Mccrindle, the two most common months for weddings are November (spring) and March (autumn), which together account for 12% of all marriages in Australia each year. Following April (10%) in popularity is the month of October with 11%.

Winter months June and July, which both see 5% of marriages in Australia each year, are the least likely to see weddings.

There’s the stats.. but Tim, tell me what’s the best month for me to get married? My response is to look at what you and your partner really want and value. What side of the fence are you leaning towards with all the pros and cons? Do you prioritise warm weather over savings? or perhaps the less likelihood of rain but love the colder weather? Weigh up what’s truly important to you and I can promise you’ll have a much clearer idea that’s more aligned with your vision.
