Jordy & Tyler

Um, wow! This epic elopement was actually a surprise for Jordy and Tyler’s family and friends. They tied the knot overlooking the beautiful south coast, had private vows by themselves, an epic portrait to celebrate then completely blew the minds of their nearest and dearest as they arrived at Seacliff House for their so called ‘Engagement Party’! Everyone was shocked, and best yet - it was exactly what they imagined plus more!

Another Above Below Visuals and Matt Ashton Photography combination which is most definitely why this day produced such amazing photos and videos, and allowed so much creativity and such good vibes.

Let’s get into it and hear from Jordy and Tyler!

How did you find the wedding planning process?

I don't think our friends or family even know this but we actually had our signed notice of intended marriage & everything finalized with our vendors about a month before we were even engaged. I love event organization and the only side of me that wishes we had a big wedding is my organizational side.

It seriously all happened in a matter of days, an imminent marriage wasn't really on our radar (considering we weren't even engaged yet lol) but we saw an opening at a venue we had always loved, for a week in September on a date that had meaning to us, so we jumped on the opportunity!

Within 2 weeks of booking the venue, we had all our vendors locked in and everything fell into place.

We just wanted two fun, carefree days with family and I think our bright, spring colour palette reflected that.

What were some of your favourite wedding details and why you chose them?

The venue Seacliff House has always been a highlight of our South Coast visits, so we knew it would be the perfect venue for our celebration. The view and the vibes are to die for! We knew surprising our guests that we got married earlier that day without them could be a little touch and go, but it would be hard for them to be mad with a stunning view and a great Italian feast... that & the fact they had two houses on site also sealed the deal with two sets of divorced parents lol

The Tablescape. This would be our main setting for the evening so I knew I had to have fun with it. Constructing it myself allowed me to channel all my nervous energy & get it out before it was time to get ready so that was definitely a bonus! I loved the bright colours and florals we included, especially with the rolling hills and ocean backdrop! Having a few disposable cameras on the table was also one of my greatest ideas, it's been so nice getting them developed and seeing a messier and more candid perspective of the day.

Ceremony Spot. We ended up choosing to have the legal portion of our day near Gerroa Headland, it's funny because we weren't even going to look here we were just going to have it on the big hill in Gerringong. I am so glad we decided to check it out just before we were meant to head back to Sydney because it ended up being such a beautiful location. The fact that it’s public land means we're able to go revisit it anytime down the track too which is so special.

What were your thoughts when you watched your wedding film for the first time?

Above Below?! More like above & beyond!!!!! If we didn't marry each other, we'd marry you. The video was exceptional, you captured everything we wanted! I honestly watch both videos daily & it will never get old. Our friends and families are entranced by it, honestly will be having kids asap just so we can show them the video.

Lets chat about your vendors, how did they all do?

As it was a small & predominantly DIY event, we only had a handful of vendors but they were all beyond perfect & added such value to our day.

Cookies @whippeddelights_ // My third time using Whipped Delights & it definitely won't be my last. Her custom cookies are almost too pretty to eat (make sure you get extra because they taste AMAZING)

Bouquet & Table Flowers @ivylanecollective // Smashed it out of the park with the colours, we opted for their DIY package and were obsessed with the florals that were provided. Bouquet of my dreams!!!!

Food @cheesyduzit // Man knows his way around a pizza oven!!!!!!! Surprising everyone with the fact we were already married we knew we needed good views & even better food in case it all went to shit, people could be distracted by that. Although he usually works with bigger groups, Nathan allowed us to customize a smaller menu which was overflowing with delicious options. I'm a little mad that the food was so good though, it meant everyone ate the canapés before I got a chance.

Hair & Makeup @michellecato.bridal & @allyy.mua // I gave these two the most basic description of what I wanted and they absolutely killed it, wish I could have them as a glam team 24/7 because wow!! It was so great having a team who could make you feel so comfortable in what is usually the more nerve-racking moments - I'm glad this is one aspect I didn't decide to DIY!

Celebrant @sharonismycelebrant // Even though we opted for the 10 minutes legal only, Sharon made sure our ceremony was perfect & even supplied speakers so we could have our custom playlist throughout. With neither of us being married before & being the first of our friends to get married, we had no idea what to expect/do & Sharon walked us through all of it.

Myself??? @thetuesday.co // Couldn't have done it without me & my custom candles, photos & tablescape.

& of course the greatest duo since Tyler & I... You & Matt Ashton Photography!! I think it is so important to have a photographer and videographer who not only work well with each other but have a deep understanding of what the other one needs in order to produce EPIC content. There is honestly no better two people in sync that you two!

What would you say to couples who are on the fence about booking a videographer for their wedding?

If you're going to spend money on anything, make it the videographer. The day goes by so quickly & is seriously such a blur, it was everything to be able to sit down & watch our day from the perspective of someone else. We were able to see things we otherwise would've missed.

Words of wisdom for future couples looking to create an epic wedding/elopement experience?

You do you. You can’t please everyone so why stress yourself trying to? Its your day so make it YOURS! now's not the time to people please because at the end of the day this is just another event for them but for you it's a day you will remember forever - well at least try to remember forever but that's where Tim comes in!!!! It goes so fast so try take a moment for yourself every now & then.
